Doula Team & Back-Up Support

I now offer a team-based doula care option. Our team is made up of three doulas, each running their own independent business, who collaborate closely to support families choosing the team model. Some families prefer solo doula care, and some prefer the added reassurance of a team. This team model is optional, and we’re happy to talk through what feels right for you and your family.

Our Team Model

Birth doesn’t follow a schedule—and your support shouldn’t depend on perfect timing. By sharing on-call responsibilities, we remain consistently available to clients. This means we don’t have to turn families away due to poor timing, overlapping births, illness, or family obligations. Instead, there is always a rested, prepared doula ready to support you.

For clients, this means no worries of cancellations, familiar backup, and uninterrupted care. For doulas, it means we can continue showing up with energy and compassion when you need us most.

During pregnancy, you’ll meet all three doulas, so whoever is on call when labor begins will already feel familiar and trusted. One doula is on call at a time, with a designated backup—meaning the doula supporting you is rested, fully present, and ready to focus on you.

You are guaranteed continuous doula support during labor and birth, no matter when labor begins or how long it lasts. If your doula is already with you when an on-call shift changes, she remains with you through the birth and immediate postpartum period.

This optional model offers peace of mind, continuity, and reliable coverage—without relying on one person to be available 24/7. It’s a supportive, sustainable approach designed to care for both families and doulas.

If you’re looking for consistent support, strong backup, and a calm, collaborative birth experience, our team doula model may be the right fit for you.

Heidi VanLeuven Chrisman

It feels perfectly full-circle that I’m now doing doula work alongside the very person who first brought me into this world - my mom, Heidi. She recently retired from her “official” career and dove right into doula work. Truly, she’s been a doula her whole life, bringing comfort, support, and love to everyone around her.  She is the most nurturing person I know and I love that she gets to share this gift with others.

BIO

Hi, I’m Heidi—a DONA-trained birth doula, mom of three, and proud “Ama” to nine wonderful grandchildren. A nurturer at heart, I’m known for my steady presence, warm hugs, and calm, reassuring support. I’m also a runner, caregiver, animal whisperer, hunter, and lucky partner to someone who keeps up with my energy.

Supporting families through pregnancy and birth allows me to share strength, comfort, faith, and grounded care during one of life’s most powerful moments.

If you’re stepping into motherhood and considering doula support, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Every family deserves to feel supported, confident, and cared for as they welcome new life.
