About Me

Hi, I’m Brittney Watkins — a DONA trained birth doula, certified lactation counselor, and mom to three beautiful girls. My husband and I love raising our family in the tight-knit community of Mohawk, NY.  When we're not at home, you’ll often find us in the Adirondacks, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping.

I’m endlessly passionate about birth and breastfeeding, and I love helping families as they transition into parenthood.

My path into this work began with my own births and breastfeeding journeys.  Eight years ago, when my first daughter was placed on my chest, my world changed. While her birth was euphoric, I found myself replaying moments when I felt unheard, unsupported, and unsure.

These feeling of uncertainty carried into the early newborn days where I was constantly questioning my instincts. I was faced with the weight of postpartum depression, and feelings of isolation in motherhood.

In those moments, I knew I wanted to become the support person that I once needed.

By the time I welcomed my next two daughters, I found my voice, knowledge, and the right support. I experienced birth and breastfeeding as they could be: powerful, sacred, and beautiful. This inspired me to dedicate my career to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

I bring to this work years of experience and education in public health and human services. and am thrilled to be expanding my knowledge as I pursue my IBCLC certification under the mentorship of Ania Mroczek, RN, IBCLC at Mohawk Valley Lactation.

I can support all types of births, but my passion and expertise lies in physiological birth - trusting the body's innate ability to give birth with minimal intervention.  If this is your goal, I'd be honored to support you.
